oh brampton.

8:49 pm

after a work week of 59 hours, losing half of arnel & mitos' interview which i had FINISHED on saturday, re-doing it this morning, finishing another huge one at 7pm only to realize at 8pm that the "file is not found", having only eaten grapes, a small cup of chili and 5 granola bars since 7am, and am convinced my eyes are about to fall out...

i am down to my last unit of patience. and even now stretching it to the limit.

but it's ok.
why?

cuz it's my last day!!!!! and everyone's been really nice. i will concede defeat, and let stupid pinnacle studio take away my dream of finishing all of the interviews and just let this go. gaaah. i need sleep.

i think this workstation is starting to smell. like old shoes or something. ugh this is so gross.

toronto's public spaces

this is a really cool site.

these buttons are so cute eh? the stations i would get are finch (the centre of the earth), wellesley (UT memories, #94 bus!), st george (UT/RCM days), ossington (UT), bathurst (kumon days) aaand north york centre (elementary/high school days). too bad they don't have the sheppard line, cuz the tiling at the sheppard platform is really nice... and bessarion too.

i thought i'd have to work on sunday as well, but so far, it looks like i might not have to!! *surpressed scream of joy*

d-feat

i'm so frustrated, even his voice is annoying me.

i already know i'm not exactly mensa material, but with all of these mishaps with the editing i am losing precious units of self-esteem. my brain feels like it's becoming a heap of mashed banana. radioactive mashed banana. plus i now empathize with the person who dropped a computer off of the 14th floor at Robarts a few years ago.

why so frustrated?

Example 1:

I have finished editing Mr C's interview. Titles, video, photos are all working. Bee-yoo-tiful. I click on Save. Twice for good luck. I close the programme. I open up the programme 14 seconds later. I try to open Mr C's interview...

only to be greeted with a smug little error message telling me they can't find/retrieve the file.

I then have to re-insert the video after again uploading it to the programme (??) and re-edit everything.

This has happened 7 times.

God help me find some more patience.
Seriously.

this is all i have to say.

do not buy pinnacle studio 8 editing software. EVER.

after yet another traumatic defeat at the hands of the evil evil pinnacle software, (which by the way, makes me want to scream "POSTERITY BE DAMNED!! SERENITY NOW!!") i listen to this guy's letterman appearance and attempt to stifle mini snorts of laughter instead.

weekend highlights

-yucky yasuko arrived! so far we've had pho, sushi, gamja tang, amazing (and cheap) yum cha and 2nd cup hot chocolate. still on the list: street meat, greek, ethiopian, niagara falls taffy and persian

- the textile museum was really great. the thor hansen exhibit is worth the price of admission alone. also, i got the funniest book ever:

the fine print says "14 projects to make with duct tape"

bwahahahah!! i saw the page for the apron and i almost burst out laughing in the gift store. other projects include a wallet, baseball hat and cellphone holder.

-i found out yasuko made a kimono for her graduation! craaazy! it took her about a year and so that's why she wanted to visit the textile museum. awesome.

-the jgct board approved glenna's proposal, so we'll be the first non-profit organization in Canada participating in the PJs for Preemies programme! basically we're making tiny tiny clothes for preemies during their stay in GTA hospitals. it's going to be a painfully cute undertaking. there are rumours of a write up in Canadian Living magazine floating around too...oooo!

-the ministry and missions fairs are coming together slooooowly...SO sloooowly. i finally had time to sit down and plan out the schedules, materials, prizes of both on friday since the jazzy jeff outing didn't happen as scheduled (hahaha, i still can't believe my luck kathy). i foresee a future filled with heaps of cardboard, top hats, bullhorns, baseball jerseys, cotton candy, popcorn carts and kids jacked up on sugar running around with plastic baseball bats and balloons. sigh.

-fancy japanese cookies from yucky. oh yummmmm.

-both feet made it on to the glass floor at the CN Tower for a record time of .65792849 of a second. I am FEARLESS.

-i say goodbye to brampton in t-minus 8 days, hey y'all to atlanta in 14, and hello to harlequin in 17. foooooooooooo. i've got a headache.

sigh

so. so. SO. beautiful outside.

i'm very envious of the nursery kids who get to skate on the small rink outside of the civic centre. siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. i haven't gone skating ONCE this whole winter because there's been no time! argh. so sad =( well...actually, i guess i have, sort of, during Tomo's goodbye party Snow Olympics on the skating rink at Mel Lastman Square in -31 C weather. fun frozen times =) i still can't believe Lena pushed me out of the way to get to the laundry basket!!! geeeeeeeeeeez

i distinctly remember thinking to myself "if i can just finish this week, everything will be ok, and this tiring month will be over." six days later, i'm more rested, but at the same time fearfully anticipating what the upcoming week will be like...once again i will say goodbye to decent amounts of sleep, and hello to increased amts of stress (usually through no one's fault but my own), crazy scheduling and running around Toronto...ack!!

gah. I hope I'm awake for New Year's dinner =/

*edit*
as much as i complain i'm so blessed to be in the situation I am in. i know this. but too often, i forget. sorry, i'm so lazy with my words a lot of the times. look at it this way, it's good training for genki grand/mothering!

gambaritai to omoimasu.

also: from now on i will tell people i am chinese (indonesian) first and only mention the japanese if pressed further. i wonder what that will do to my mindset, because i've always emphasized the japanese side. not sure how long the experiment will last...i think at least until my birthday.
