1.

Look! This is totally where we were sitting!

2. I read an article where they said campaigning in California (for any US presidential race) necessitated a "campaign in poetry", a phrase which aptly describes the Obama campaign. Though he didn't win Cali, I think it is important for any head of state to be able to move people through oratory eloquence. This in no way hides or makes up for a lack thereof; rather it adds to the political process as a whole, because candidates and the public are forced to re-evaluate and communicate in inclusive, inspirational language. Not only did JFK do this, but so did Trudeau, and both were the cornerstones of political change for their respective countries. I think this is partly because they were able to capture the imagination of the public, and lead them to believe in the greater good.

3 I think the masculine equivalent of "Eeek!" is probably "Egads!"

4. It's Black History Month! Did you know that for 10 years after the American Civil War, blacks were actually state legislators in South Carolina? Amazing. Also, after the Civil War, because Native American territories were entities unto themselves and didn't comply with the laws of the United States, they still kept black slaves for another thirty years. Crazy. (Thanks, WNED!)

5. I made two batches of hong sao ro for the building volunteers last night and early this morning. I smell like braised pork belly. Rawr.

6. Still haven't bought anything. Torture!

7. Gong Xi Fa Cai!
